Whilst the Principality is a cheerful and welcoming country, it remains uncompromising when it comes to defending human rights, the environment and fair trade. As a responsible micronation, the Principality of Aigues-Mortes has established diplomatic relations with numerous micronations around the world to form a stronger, international citizens’ lobby to better defend our universal values.​​

 

Like any self-respecting country, the Principality also maintains a diplomatic network in many countries across all continents, thanks to the presence of ambassadors and consuls with whom we maintain regular communication. Since 2025, the office of the Prince for Foreign Affairs has been entrusted to His Serene Highness the Crown Prince.

MICRONATIONAL SUMMITS

​

Since his accession to the throne, Prince Jean-Pierre IV has ensured that Aigues-Mortes is represented at various micronational summits. He does so with the firm intention of securing a prominent place for his city within this sphere, which is attracting increasing media attention. The aim is to build our principality’s reputation in order to promote it more effectively, as the Prince’s presence at these summits ensures greater exposure for the name of Aigues-Mortes. These meetings also enable us to forge strong ties with other micronations, allowing us to convey messages and take concrete action on issues and values to which the Principality is strongly committed. The Principality of Aigues-Mortes has attended the following inter-micronational meetings:

 

2015 – 3rd Polination Conference, organised by the Free Republic of Alcatraz near Gubbio (Italy 🇮🇹).

2016 – 1st Microfrancophonie Summit, organised by the Principality of Aigues-Mortes (France 🇫🇷).

2017 – 2nd MicroCon Conference, organised by the Kingdom of Ruritania in Atlanta (United States 🇺🇸).

2018 – 2nd Microfrancophonie Summit, organised by the Empire of Angyalistan in Vincennes (France 🇫🇷).

2019 – 3rd MicroCon conference, organised by the Empire of Slabovia in Hamilton (Canada 🇨🇦).

2022 – 4th MicroCon conference, organised by the Grand Duchy of Westarctica in Las Vegas (United States 🇺🇸).

2022 – 3rd Microfrancophonie Summit, organised by the Principality of Hélianthis in Blaye (France 🇫🇷).

2023 – 5th MicroCon conference, organised by the Royal Republic of Ladonia in Chicago (United States 🇺🇸).

2023 – 1st MicroCon Europe conference, co-organised by Ladonia and the Grand Duchy of Flandrensis in Ypres (Belgium 🇧🇪).

2025 – 6th MicroCon conference, organised by the Aerican Empire, Sancratosia and Saint-Castin in Montreal (Canada 🇨🇦).

DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

​

There are now more than 400 micronations around the world. The Principality of Aigues-Mortes has established diplomatic relations with the most influential and successful ones to date. Our aim is to create a strong, citizen-led and international network. As some are recognised as observer NGOs at the United Nations, a micronational union on key issues such as the environment, human rights and fair trade can act as a lobby to influence states and/or international organisations. It is for these reasons that we attach great importance to establishing good relations between active micronations around the world.
